Strictly speaking, the fees refer to the amount the interpreter is paid for providing interpretation during the conference.
In the agreement sector, this amount is established in the relevant agreement taking into account the working conditions, preparation time, possible tax exemptions, etc.
In the private market sector, the fees are negotiated by the interpreter and the client. Experience has shown that interpreters do not work 365 days a year, that they must pay high social contributions and that they frequently spend many days preparing for conferences (not to mention the lengthy studies required and the intense concentration required to do the work). These criteria are generally used by interpreters to determine the appropriate level of remuneration for their work.
