AIIC ACTIVITIES

• AIIC applies a strict membership admission procedure in order to ensure linguistic ability and professional competence and conduct.

• AIIC publishes a Directory of members: a yearly hard copy and a quarterly updated electronic version.

• AIIC regularly reviews Standards of Professional Practice.

• AIIC establishes agreements with major international organizations and monitors their implementation.

• AIIC cooperates with manufacturers of simultaneous interpretation equipment and with the national standards authorities, through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), to define and improve standards for booths and equipment.

• AIIC provides information to the media and the public in order to enhance awareness of our profession.

• AIIC cooperates with a number of university-level interpreter schools on their teaching curricula and examinations.

• AIIC organizes symposia, seminars and inter-regional meetings for its members.

• AIIC promotes research in the field of conference interpretation and linguistics.

• AIIC keeps abreast of new technologies and monitors their impact on the profession.

• AIIC regularly works with related professional associations on issues of common interest.
