The European Union sector covers all interpreters
working for the European
Commission
(Brussels), the European
Parliament
(Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg) and the European Court of
Justice (Luxembourg).
The working languages of the three institutions
are Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian,
Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish.
The EU institutions are the largest employers
of staff and freelance conference interpreters in the world. To
safeguard the interests of its members working in the sector, AIIC
has been negotiating conventions
governing the remuneration and working conditions in the sector.
AIIC is currently building up a database of non AIIC interpreters
working in the EU sector so as to be able to react quicky to any
new development on the EU front. The information will be used solely
for the purposes of the AIIC-EU Negotiating Delegation and to speed
up registration at sectoral meetings.
If you are a non AIIC EU-accredited interpreter, please fill in
our online form.
