The CCAQ (United
Nations) sector covers all interpreters working for the United Nations
and their Programmes and Convention Secretariats in the world, ILO
- Geneva, Switzerland, FAO - Rome,
Italy, UNESCO - Paris, France,
ICAO - Montreal, Canada, - WHO
- Geneva, Switzerland, UPU - Bern,
Switzerland, ITU - Geneva, Switzerland,
WMO - Geneva, Switzerland, IMO
- London, UK, WIPO - Geneva,
Switzerland, IFAD - Rome, Italy,
UNIDO- Vienna, Austria, IAEA
- Vienna, Austria, WFP - Rome,
Italy.
To safeguard the interests of conference interpreters working in
the sector, AIIC has been negotiating Agreements
governing remuneration, working conditions and social protection
of conference interpreters holding short-term contracts with organizations
members of the United Nations common System of Salaries, Allowances
and other Benefits.
The CCAQ is a subsidiary organ of the ACC (Administrative Committee
on Coordination). Its objective are to improve and harmonize management
practices in the organizations of the United Nations System and
promote efficiency and effectiveness in their operation. These objectives
are pursued in the fields of personnel, budget, finance and general
administration. The CCAQ
(PER) addresses personnel and general administrative questions.
The Agreement with AIIC
is published as Annex IV to the CCAQ (PER) Handbook.
The working languages of the United Nations Common System of Organizations
are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
