Subject: Brazilian Portuguese X Portuguese from Portugal

I have done the interpreter training programme in Geneva ( 2nd edition) and I am a interpreter and interpreter trainer in Brazil.

Bearing in mind we are all interested in improving and I would like to say that I think it would be bery interesting a round table focusing on the language itself ( Brazilian Portuguese X Portuguese from Portugal) and also on "dialogue journal" as a tool for teaching. For this table, Jacolyn Harmer from Monterey has a lot to say and I would be highly interested in participating in this table as well, as I have been using the same tool as an effective way of promoting learning. Is there any possibility of having something on the above topics?

The only problem I face to attend your meeting is financial support from the Brazilian research funding agencies, as we are living a crises as you might have seen in the papers, with the devaluation of our currency.

Please, I would appreciate if we could exchange ideas on that, mainly because the most difficult situations I have been through in my career were the ones in which the speaker spoke Portuguese from Portugal.

Thank you very much and I hope we can keep in touch. I would love to attend your meeting.

I t is a great idea. An interpreter should at least once in his/her life time attend a session ran by Barbara Moser-Mercer. She is really promoting changes in the way trainers should look into their job and on how courses can be designed.
