The United Nations will be holding a competitive examination for the recruitment of Chinese-language interpreters tentatively on 19 & 20 November 2008.
Applicants for the examination must:
- Have Chinese as their main language;
- Have a perfect command of Chinese and an excellent knowledge of English;
- Hold a degree from a university or institution of equivalent status and have 200 days of experience in interpreting, translation, editing or verbatim reporting; or hold a university degree in interpreting.
Candidates who are successful in this examination will be placed on a roster from which existing and future vacancies in the Interpretation Service in New York, Geneva, Vienna, Nairobi and Bangkok will be filled.
Applications for this examination must be received by 8 September 2008.
